Port 993 is used by IMAP Secure (SSL/TLS) (IMAPS). Encrypted IMAP email access. The secure version of port 143. Always use IMAPS/993 instead of IMAP/143 when configuring email clients.

What Does an Open Port 993 Mean?

An email server is accepting encrypted IMAP connections. This is the correct port for secure email access.

How to Check if Port 993 Is Open

How to Close Port 993

  • Stop the service using port 993 if you no longer need it
  • Add a firewall rule blocking inbound connections on port 993
